For a score of years
Have I walked upon this Earth,
Living peacefully.

Now I am betrayed
By my most valued asset:
Imagination.

Turning against me,
Latching itself to dark thoughts,
Torturing my mind

With thoughts so unreal,
And yet almost convincing.
Mental agony.

My suffering mind
Seeks the true reality,
Unsure of itself,

But I know what is,
And also know what is not.
Logic is my guide;

To it I shall cling,
Knowing that this world is real
In spite of myself.

One day dawn will come,
And I shall see truthful light,
And I shall be healed.
